могу сказать, что такое же произойдет если провести ногтями по волосу :) Видимо, как то связано со структурой волоса-ленты...

Мне тут рассказывают про какую-то пористую структуру, которая сжимается, когда по ней проводят ножницами или ногтями. Но по-моему, это бред :(

When the ribbon is pressed under the thumb and dragged across the

the blade becomes stretched because of the sharp angle around the
blade. Because one side of the ribbon becomes a bit longer than the
other, the ribbon tends to curl in a direction that puts the longer
side on the outside of the curl and the shorter side inside.
