Разъемы для компутера создавались с таким учетом, чтобы нельзя было перепутать и не воткнуть несовместимое устройство, но почему разъемы PS/2 для мыши и клавы совершенно одинаковы и при этом несовместимы?

Вероятность спалить таким образом порт или устройство стремится к нулю. За три года работы в сервисном центре проделывал эту операцию очень много раз, проблем не было.

у меня 3 попытки - одна удача. Удивился, полез в нет - прочел, прифигел. пс/2 не поддерживает такое извращение (в отличии от кома и usb) и шанс спалить как раз есть и достаточный...

Хм. Я вижу другое:

PS/2 ports are designed to connect the digital I/O lines of the microcontroller in the external device directly to the digital lines of the microcontroller on the motherboard. They are not designed to be hot swappable. Hot swapping PS/2 devices usually does not cause damage due to the fact that more modern microcontrollers tend to have more robust I/O lines built into them which are harder to damage; however, hot swapping can still potentially cause damage on older machines, or machines with less robust port implementations.
