Каски на БАК

Почему посетители БАК (да и многих других мест где не ведется строительство) носят каски? Понятно что техника безопасности, но от чего конкретно они защищают? Там отваливаются куски? Или шальная частица вылетевшая на громадной скорости от каски отскочит?

Date: 2008-09-12 05:54 am (UTC)б) один товарищ на БАКе каску не носил, поэтому когда на него скинули 1200 кг (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LHC#Construction_accidents_and_delays)- он умер. вот был бы в каске - выжил бы.

Section 1926.100 (Head protection) states:
(a) Employees working in areas where there is a possible danger of head injury from impact, or from falling or flying objects, or from electrical shock and burns, shall be protected by protective helmets. [Emphasis added.]
